Weekly Photo Challenge: Childhood

This week, the theme is to:

Photograph childhood

This challenge is perfect for those photographers out there with children of their own – or children they can borrow (nieces, nephews, neighbors) for a photographic session.

Photo A Day at the Zoo: Polar Bear Cometh
A snowy winter day at the zoo focusing on humans interacting with the animals. This girl watches the polar bear have a nice cold swim.

Watch the children at play. One minute they may be laughing and playing and the next minute in tears. Photographing childhood is the closest we get to photographing honest emotions.

If the children are not your own, remember to get permission from the parents first before photographing!

Photo End of Day

Or this could be that this theme makes you a bit nostalgic for childhood. Find and arrange some of your favorite momentos into a photographic still life or visit a childhood haunt. Post photos of memories or reminders of childhood. If you don’t have momentos, take a trip to an antique store – I always seem to find something that reminds me of my youth.

You could even try this week to photograph as if you were still a child – that means getting down low and seeing the world as a child would see it. You may even get to play with the toads yourself!
