Weekly Photo Challenge: Interesting Light

Weekly Photo Challenge: Interesting Light

This week’s photo challenge is a lighting etude. Photograph Interesting Light.
Sometimes photographers look for a subject first – what we’re going to photograph – and forget to look for the light. Light is the medium of photographers – it is what we use to create photographs. Being able to see and use light is fundamental to photography….

Preparing for an Epic Trip

Preparing for an Epic Trip

I’m heading out this week for a very exciting trip. Truth be told I’m a little nervous. I’ve done a lot of traveling but this is an adventure a little outside of my comfort zone. But the trip is about photography so these are the things I’m doing right now to prepare to make great photographs on my trip.

So grab your camera this week – or better still, borrow someone else’s – and go see what you can negotiate.

When I’m looking for the unique experiences, I find them. Maybe I’m just lucky when I travel, but I think it’s more of a mindset.

All-Time Favs — So Far

All-Time Favs — So Far

The weekly challenge over at The Daily Post is All-Time Favorites. How fun! We should all do this one and choose our favorite photos of all time!

But this is a daunting task – I currently have 128,453 photos in my Lightroom catalog. Admittedly, they’re not all my favorites, but I have already taken out all the random shots of my feet and the blurry images of my husband running from the camera.

And as a quote attributed to Imogen Cunningham says:

Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow.
— Imogen Cunningham

But the challenge is to post my all-time favorites — so far.

A Most Unlikely Customer

A Most Unlikely Customer

This week, the photo challenge is Unlikely.

My own take on this theme is a photo of a most unlikely customer from a recent trip to Havana, Cuba.

Counting as I Travel: A Numbers Game

Counting as I Travel: A Numbers Game

For years I have been pursuing a little photography game when I travel – counting as I travel. I started, years ago, with a photograph of the number “1” and I’m currently looking for #56.

I count when I travel, but there are so many variations of this idea. It doesn’t matter what personal project you choose – it’s your theme after all.
